RHOC S10

Meghan:

MVP

Don’t like her husband (he also seems kinda gay)

Don’t do your stepdaughter’s homework for her!

I love when they asked her if she apologized to Shannon about not inviting her and she was like, I’m not sorry. You better tell them!!!

It was really weird that the women told her she wouldn’t know what it’s like to be a mom until she had children of her own (what about people who adopt or didn’t physically birth their kids… I’m glad someone asked during the reunion)

The women not understanding her point about questioning Brooks’ cancer is weird.

She has a loved one who is DRYING and doing everything she can… of course it looks weird when she sees someone who isn’t doing everything to save his life.

They look at her like she’s wrong for calling Vicki old and bitter AFTER Vicki called her a little girl

I hope no one in her life ever tries to lie to her about anything. She WILL find out the truth!

Heather:

Omg, thank you for defending Heather during her argument w/ Vicki about Brooks and his cancer

Why is Lisa Rinna here?!?

“I’ve seen plenty and I’ve done some” I love Heather’s little saying

Tamra:

Loved seeing Lynne

Cute baby shower

Scott, her psychic, is HOT

Brooks is so slimy. I loved her confronting him about the “consider the source” comment

Not the pastor trying to get involved in the finale confrontation with Vicki

Vicki

Brooks and his fake cancer

Jeana looks good!

As soon as Vicki hit the floor, I knew her mom passed away (that was hard to watch)

It somehow makes it worse that Brooks continued to fake cancer after Vicki’s mom passed away. He could have gone into “remission”… and knowing Meghan was dealing w/ a loved one actually dying of cancer.

Not her telling the sushi get to get up, put some clothes on and go to college

Vicki siding with Brooks over Brianna was extremely upsetting

Also… Brianna correcting the pronouncing of her name 10 YEARS later… girl bye. It makes me think of this time in high school. The LAST day of school, a girl corrected a teach about the spelling of her name. What does it matter now?!?

Vicki is scary in the reunion. She doesn’t make sense and she seems scarily numb (and right after I typed that, Andy says she took a Xanax before the reunion started.)

It bothers me that she says she’s strong enough to not get back w/ Brooks… when they are only not together before he broke up with her.

Shannon:

Girl, let David go

“Here lies Shannon”… Yikes

So, she’s saying he is angry… but she’s clearly angry he drank and he’s trying to calm the situation… and in the next scene, she’s looking for the bar.

Overacted with Meghan. She seems jealous. Clam down.

Now she’s upset that Meghan didn’t invite her to the charity event that Shannon didn’t want to help her with…

Not Shannon crying about not being invited as she says she doesn’t care about not being invited to Meghan’s party.

Shannon is jealous of Meghan

It seems like anything David does is an issue for her, so he can’t win.

David’s mistress befriending Shannon and asking about her marriage… Wow

She calls Tamra a pot stirrer and then runs and tells Vicki what Meghan said about the psychic and Brooks’ cancer.

Now she’s crying and saying she should have kept her mouth shut… what the hell did she think was going to happen!?!? Her hate for Meghan clouded her judgment.

Shannon being upset about her bday dinner was weird (Yeah, he could have taken her somewhere nicer… I assume he didn’t b/c they took the kids w/ them.)

Also, she says she isn’t upset about the place they went for her bday, but clearly she was.

I really disliked her this season.

Shannon should have hit Rhonda.

RHOC S9

I like the new intro!

Lizzie:

Girl, why would Vicki only order 5 shots… and Heather wasn’t going to drink a shot anyway, so 5 shots would have still worked.

I wish the fuck I would let my kid, or any kid, beat me over the head with a toy… and then he got a cupcake. Couldn’t be me.

From what I remember (mind you, I watched this last week, and already don’t remember), she barely had scenes with Heather, why is she siding with her regarding Shannon getting kicked out.

Tamra not understanding that Lizzie was upset that Tamra didn’t contact her until an hour AFTER she was supposed to be there… only to say she wasn’t coming… was annoying.

Shannon:

They gaslight her (from the clips I saw before I started this)… and watching it in full just confirmed what I already thought

Her house is STUNNING!

The way she was talking about radiation from cellphones… Yikes

David seems mean. (Them arguing in the kitchen during the party… Yikes)

She and David are uncomfortable to watch

Meghan you’re a season too early! lol

She needs to be drunk to have sex w/ her husband… Yikes

I feel bad for Shannon, but it seems like she likes to argue w/ her husband b/c she doesn’t feel loved… But that just pushes him away (After I wrote that note, Vicki basically said the same thing in her confessional)

Why did she make a scene at the dinner table w/ everyone present… and then say David was making her act like a bitch?

Why is she having this serious ass conversation on their vacation?

I get that Shannon’s being gaslit, but she doesn’t make an outsider think she’s crazy… and the fact that no one is calling Tamra out for causing the issue.

“YOU ALL WILL SEE THE TRUTH!”

Shannon said vacation Shannon is fun… like I don’t remember her yelling at David the previous vacation

Heather:

Center!

Drunk plans… I do the same thing

Heather is definitely gonna be the villain of the season

The chair at dinner wasn’t that serious

Heather has it out for Shannon. She yelled at Shannon for being late, but didn’t say anything to Vicki. They showed up together!

Shannon isn’t behaving the way Heather is describing

Why did she have to bring up a harmless comment David made at the beginning of the season now that she and Shannon are getting along?!?

She and Terry were being bitchy during David’s apology. What more did she want from him… to pop a vein (those who get it, get it)

Terry really thought he did something when he called David a penis. Also, if he was THAT upset about the comment, why didn’t he say something when it happened or any of the MULTIPLE times he saw David before the finale event?

Vicki:

Brianna’s pregnant again?!?

Troy crawling around was the cutest thing!

Vicki is talking about Lizzie not going by Elizabeth, Beth, or Liz… while she doesn’t go by Victoria!

Not Brooks and her comparing what Tamra did to them to what she did to Shannon. Not even close.

“If you’re so happy, why are you so miserable?” DAMN!

Tamra:

Girl, don’t have another baby

Even if it’s true that Heather put a different workout studio on the show, what does it matter b/c she is putting your workout studio on the show now? (And Lizzie basically said that in her confessional after I wrote that note)

Tamra was messy for telling Terry and Heather about Shannon hearing they want to take her down… but not mentioning Shannon said she heard it from Tamra.

So, she talks to Heather about Shannon’s marriage AGAIN!?!

Ryan is going to move w/ a girl he’s known for 2 months… and they are going to get married… and she already has 3 kids… Yikes (Also, I think Ryan is so hot). Also, you’d think since her parents are gone, she’d want Tamra to be involved in stuff, like taking her dress shopping.

RHOC S7

Tamra:

It was weird for her to get jealous of Vicki and Eddie like they were about to run off together.

Tamra saying Vicki needs to not be jealous of her and Gretchen… after she freaked out about Eddie and Vicki high-fiving

Tamra inviting Slade to the 80s party after what he said about Vicki, and not giving Vicki a heads up, was low

Kara is my favorite of the Real Housewives kids and I love how she was able to have an adult conversation w/ Tamra about the drink thrown at her mother.

Tamra and Jeana making up made me happy.

Heather:

LOVE her. Probably my favorite housewife of all franchises.

They are so RICH

Terry is adorable

When she told Tamra if she had a baby to just bring it to her house b/c she has so many, she wouldn’t even know, I cackled

Loved her Addicted to Love 80s look. I love the subversion of a theme.

She’s what I aspire to be in life

Love the restaurant idea. Crazy that they can put 650k to 1 mil into something and be so cavalier about whether it fails or succeeds (and in hindsight, they never talk about it again… at least not as of S11, where I currently am)

I love Heather, but saying her cake was defiled… people are dying Kim… but love the drama of it all.

Terry reminds me of Peter/Patricia from RHOA

Heather giving Sara the Oreo. *chef’s kiss*

“I am bored with this”

Alexis:

Ditzy

Her being mad at Peggy and not Jim (for the two dating before he got w/ Alexis and Peggy became Alexis’ friend) is weird.

Doesn’t take criticism well. Gretchen was being supportive of her segment.

I HATED the Costa Rica intervention. Vicki and Gretchen could have stood up for her more. I HATE when people get ganged up on like that, even if I agree w/ what they’re saying.

I loved her telling Gretchen, can you think about me for a sec, when Gretchen was trying to console her after the Costa Rica intervention. She wanted to be alone and Gretchen insisted on trying to come into her room.

Alexis bringing Sara around is a mess, and even though I think Heather overacted about the bow, it was dumb to not get her out of there immediately after she wouldn’t apologize (but I get Alexis defending her friend b/c no one defended her)

Slade being the voice of reason in the Cake Fiasco was a nice (weird) surprise

Vicki:

Brooks. Yikes. Buying him stuff already

I loved her standing up to Slade, but she’s being a hypocrite regarding Brooks

Also, Brooks faking cancer after her daughter’s cancer scare… sick.

I don’t like Briana anymore b/c I HATE Ryan. How she ended up w/ a guy like that is beyond me. It was also super hypocritical for her to judge her mom and Brooks when she just ran off and got married in Vegas. (Briana is still w/ Ryan and has 4 kids now. Ugh)

The look when Vicki randomly said it will be sad when one of them dies…

Brooks and the evil eye was a mess and Vicki not realizing he is driving a wedge between them is silly.

Gretchen:

Someone talking about someone’s looks is NOT the same as calling someone a deadbeat dad

Mikey went from RHOC to RHOBH!

Why didn’t Gretchen stop her drunk ass friend, Sara, at the bowling place (sooner, as she eventually did)

The looks when Gretchen finishes singing during her dress rehearsal

RHOC S6

Tamra:

What is Dr. Will doing here?!? (He removed her tattoo)

I don’t like her w/ Eddie

Jeane is so messy

S6 finale, chef’s kiss, that drink in Jeane’s face

Vicki:

She doesn’t invite Donn on trips but then says guys on trips give her more attention than Donn…

Donn and Vicki are mean to each other.

Vicki wants that constant validation and love, but it seems she doesn’t give it.

That trip where Tamra had to treat Vicki like they were dating was stupid.

Intro of Brooks… the whole reason I started RHOC

Peggy:

Meh

I love that she talked about postpartum depression

I liked how she was respectful to the chef for their party. I felt like her husband was rude (did they not look up what food the chef specialized in before contacting her?)

Gretchen:

Don’t like her w/ Slade

Not the drawing of Grayson being blurred out.

I couldn’t talk about having kids w/ someone who owes child support

Alexis:

I like that she plays peacemaker

Don’t get why she’s so competitive w/ Peggy

I feel bad for her and her vulnerability makes me like her more this season.

Liberal women shouldn’t run for president and want to do everything men do… yikes.

RHOC S5

Jeane:

Sad to see her go.

Glad her sons weren’t being assholes.

Tamra:

Simon is like a robot, and if he’s English, where’s his accent?

Simon is controlling

Simon is a jerk, but Ryan should just apologize to ease the tension between them all.

Alexis:

Jim – Yikes

Why does a stay-at-home mom need a nanny?

God first, marriage second, and kids third. Yikes.

The mani/pedi for the girls. I know those workers were glad when she left.

She sounds like she has an ED (and Tamra straight up said she doesn’t eat during the summer)

Gretchen:

It’s weird to me to talk to a man about having kids who isn’t taking care of his current kids.

I love her trying to talk to Lynne’s daughter. (I hated Lynne’s daughter throwing her under the bus.)

Slade shouldn’t argue w/ women.

Vicki:

Don’t invite some boy to your house for 3 days as a line date for your daughter!

I get her not wanting guys on the girls’ trip

Loved her letter to Donn

Lynne:

Love her

Frank is go great

I really didn’t like how she reacted to Gretchen’s talk w/ her daughter. I would have thanked her, plus her daughter totally turned around what happened. It seemed she was stuck on thinking Grethcn was judging her parenting and got defensive.

Love Frank being honest about money (that has to be hard to do on a show like this) I hope they stay together (I later learned they don’t… )

I really don’t like Alexa

RHOC S4

Gretchen:

So excited to get to the season she’s on (I know she is super right-wing now, but I don’t know these people, so I view them as characters on a show.)

It’s weird to see Slade w/ Gretchen (even though the first time I watched, he was with her, now knowing that he was with Jo first, then Lauri, now her is cringe).

Tamra:

Getting Gretchen drunk was SO disturbing to watch.

Talking about Gretchen and Lynee dancing like there isn’t footage of her doing the same thing at the club in her first season.

Vicki:

Why is she shocked Donn is bothered that she doesn’t want him to go w/ her and the kids to Mexico? She’s acting towards him how Michael acted towards her when she surprised him at college on game day.

Vicki is annoying w/ Donn. She wants his affection, but after her not wanting him on the vacation…

Lauri:

(I didn’t write any notes)

Jeane:

Get Matt out of the house.

She really lets her sons talk to her anyway they want.

She needs therapy.

She’s talking about what Lynne should do w/ her kids like her son didn’t threaten to throw a bat at her.

Lynne:

They were so mean to her.

She’s too kind and docile for this show.

Her crying at the reunion made me sad. I also didn’t like how Vicki couldn’t just apologize for the things she said about Lynne.

RHOC S3

Tamra:

Ryan is SO cute

I don’t like Simon’s relationship w/ Ryan. I think a mom should always choose her kids over her partner.

Jeane:

Now Colton has become a Shane.

Jeane body shaming the people at the lake bothered me.

Vicki:

Stop being a helicopter mom.

Tammy w/ a scrunchie AND clip in her hair?!? She needed that makeover.

Tammy:

It’s crazy to me when rich people don’t have wills. Her kids’ dad left them w/ nothing and the wife got everything and kicked them out.

Her kids going on the trip to Miami w/ no money was sad. Those girls could have just used their dad’s card to pay for their food.

Quinn:

Crazy. Boy Crazy. Seems like the representation of sexual expression hindered by religion.

She and the 26 yr old were cringe (and not b/c of the age gap.)

She and Billy were cringe. Why even try to be w/ someone who doesn’t believe in God if that’s a major part of your life?

Lauri:

Her son moving in w/ George’s ex-wife seemed like a cry for her attention. It seemed like she focused on George and her “new” family.

Loved her talking about her son and her brother during the reunion.

RHOC S2

(I literally took notes while I was watching)

Jo:

She and Slade together was gross to watch. Especially when he would pet her like a … pet… or she would talk to him like a child talking to a parent. I was happy to see them finally break up.

Also, something I didn’t mention before (two things actually) her coming back crying in S1 after “breaking up” with him was hilarious to me. She also gives me LaLaine/Rashida Jones/ Megan Markle vibes (and I mean that with the utmost respect to all the mentioned women, Jo included.

Jo being the first aspiring Housewife singer was shocking. I think I’d listen to her music. It didn’t sound bad.

Slade bringing the girl to the bbq was so wrong, and Jo handled it with class and grace (much better than I would have).

I didn’t like when she took Shane out with her and the girls, ESPECIALLY when she asked him if he wanted to come home with her… (as a joke…) and I didn’t like when she defended him calling Tammy “Tits”.

Tammy:

Biggest note, girl, get back with Duff! They were so cute together and so affectionate. It felt a bit like she was stringing him along.

I found it odd that Tammy’s daughter didn’t like her dad having a wife 20+ yrs his junior… when she was 20+ yrs younger than her boyfriend.

I didn’t really have much to think about Tammy one way or the other… aside from my desire for her to reunite with Duff. I was sad to see no one really defend her during the reunion about Shane and the “Tits” comment, especially Jeane.

Jeane:

My first note was, Please control Shane.

The next was, Why is some random Canadian girl, who can’t eat, in your house?

Drunk Shane at the bbq. Where the hell was Jeane when all this was happening? Not that she’d do anything anyway…

Matt is a dick, just like Shane. (I LOVED how Kara stood up to him and defended the dog trainer, because he was being rude to her for no reason.)

I love Kara.

Jeane is a fellow Virgo. I’m disappointed.

Jeane saying Jo needs a man who treats her badly so she can fall in love explains EVERYTHING

Lauri:

My first note, focus on your son.

Second note, seems money hungry

“Slade thinks he’s the next real housewife”… (It wasn’t until I was done with S1 that I realized this Slade is Gretchen’s Slade.

Maybe I’m pulling from my own mom/son trauma (see more w/ Vicki) but I really wanted to see Lauri focus on her son getting better instead of finding a man to take care of her. I could be wrong, but I can only go by what I saw.

Vicki:

First note: Family Van! lol

I didn’t have much to say, but the surprise trip to see Michael broke my heart.

First, how is he “surprised” when there is a camera crew there filming him. Second, he tells her MULTIPLE times that he isn’t happy she is there… and then doesn’t understand why she starts to cry. I loved that his friends told him to go talk to his mom. I loved even more that his girlfriend and one of his friends consoled Vicki. It touched my heart.

I found Michael to be ungrateful and rude. As someone whose mother has passed, and someone who put himself through school, while working full time, I resent his behavior. But hindsight is 20/20, who knows how I would have responded to a surprise visit from my mom when I was 19.

Real Housewives of Orange County S1

So, I’m feeling super sick today. I called out of work and chugged some NyQuil… only to wake up about 4 hours later. I started RHOC yesterday (I’ve watched bits and pieces here and there, but never the whole thing through). Here are my thoughts.

Jo:

This is one of those “grass is greener on the other side” situations. I can’t understand how/why she is bothered that her man wants to take care of her and doesn’t want her to choose partying over family. I understand she was 24… I believe…but TRUST me, if some man came along when I was 24 and just wanted me to be a housewife, my partying days would be over. Hell, I go out all the time BECAUSE I don’t have a man… I’d much rather be at home snuggled up watching a movie or playing video games.

In her defense, there were times when Slate would “pet” her like property and that rubbed me the wrong way. Him basically calling her an airhead was a problem… Him taking the license plate and chasing after her was also an issue. The biggest issue of all was that he dated Lauri right after they broke up.

Lauri:

This hit a nerve for me because I had experience with this in my own life, so I’ll just say this, I really wanted her to focus on her children and providing for the family, rather than finding a man. The fact that she had that guy, Steve, I think, around the house and her kids didn’t like it… and she didn’t care… AND he had a history with drugs… while her son was dealing with drug issues. Priorities.

Kimberly:

This will sound backwards, especially after what I said about Jo, but all I could think of was… she bought those big ass boobs and does all this to stay in shape for her husband… and he doesn’t appear to do any of that. It’s weird to me that men can look like anything and expect their woman to be perfect. Also, why wasn’t she at the little backyard reunion?

Jeana:

Girl, please reign in your children. They were a lot (and I remember them getting worse in future seasons.) I totally thought her son was gay too… or maybe asexual. He had a very robotic way of talking about things. The next season he had a more “macho” sound about him… maybe as a result of the commentary for this season.

Vicki:

I know too much about her from future seasons… Vicki is crazy, but she makes good TV. I love how passionate she is about her work and providing for her family. I was surprised to like her daughter, because of later seasons, and her son… wish I lived his life.

Suits

I’m very aware that I’m behind the times when it comes to this show. It aired from 2011 – 2019. I know that a few years ago I started the show and got through the first season. I can’t remember if I started the show before or after I moved to Los Angeles. The show was recommended by a friend, and I know Megan was dating Prince Harry by the time I started the show, which made me interested in watching. Also, any time I see actors from Whedon shows, I’m down to give the show a try, and Gina Torres was Jasmine in Angel. Plus, I loved Cleopatra 2525, Firefly and Alias, so I’ll watch anything she’s in.

I was hooked from the first episode. It’s a really great premise. The main character is Michael Ross. He’s a college dropout, who just happens to be a genius. He has this ability to remember everything he reads. By chance, he ends up meeting Harvey Specter, who’s a hotshot lawyer looking for a protege associate. Mike always wanted to be a lawyer, and despite not graduating from law school, Harvey takes him under his wing. For most of the show, it is Harvey and Mike trying to keep Mike’s secret.

The first several seasons where riveting. I loved the characters and I loved the drama. Even characters you were meant to dislike (maybe even hate) felt somewhat likeable, and that can be a really hard thing to do. Even when I disliked what a character was doing (looking at you, Luis), I could still see where they were coming from, for the most part. Around season five, I started to get bored, which may be the fault of binging the show more than the show itself. However, season six or seven, I can’t remember now, took a much needed dramatic turn, and I was pleasantly surprised.

You may or may not know this, but The O.C. was a HUGE part of my teenage life, and I reference it when I discuss shows, even now. There is something I’ve coined (maybe someone else said it, but if they did, I never heard it) the “Ryan Chino” dilemma. If you didn’t watch the show, or don’t remember, a lot of times, especially in the earlier episodes, the drama was, is Ryan going to stay in Newport or return to Chino. It got tired after a while. I felt the same way with this, is Mike’s secret going to be exposed or not… and that dilemma lasted much longer than Ryan’s, let alone the show The O.C. itself.

I won’t go into spoiler territory, but the last two seasons deal with dramatic cast changes, and I was again pleasantly surprised. One addition to the cast that I really enjoyed was Katherine Heigl. I think the last thing I saw her in was Knocked Up (I’ll have to do a post about that film and This is 40, because from what I understand, people hated Debbie and Alison, but they were my favorite characters.). The whole Grey’s Anatomy drama had left a bad taste in my mouth. Having finished Suits, I may need to rethink my opinion of Katherine.

For any Angel fans out there, Amy Acker also has a few appearances on the show… and I just realized as I typed this that both Amy and Gina were on Suits, Angel and Alias. I was disappointed that they didn’t interact in Suits. I think they interacted in Alias… it’s been a long time… and I assume they had to interact in Angel.

I feel like a remember a few people from PLL being on the show as well. I know Patrick J. Adams, the actor who played Mike Ross, married Troian Bellisario, who played Spencer on PLL. So, both were on each other’s show… But I feel like I notice PLL cast members in everything. The actress who played Charlie/Charles was prominent in the first season of Suits as well.

Moving on, despite the show being rather formulaic, though I suppose all shows will develop some rhythm that seems formulaic, it was still enjoyable. There would typically be some impossible situation, usually a case, and just when they thought they couldn’t figure it out, while talking about something else, an idea would pop into someone’s head (usually Harvey’s or Mike’s) and they’d save the day. Their bond was my favorite part of the show. I may be reading into it, but their relationship felt more romantic than mentor/protege. These were two heterosexual male characters, but sometimes they bickered like a couple would.

I also loved all the women in the show. It was very rare that you saw one being a damsel. They were all badass and took charge. Not to mention, for most of the show, Jessica (Gina Torres’ character) is the one running the firm. There were some times when the women’s scenes seemed to only exist to talk about relationship drama, but that didn’t happen too often.

I often say the series finale can make or break a show, and I felt the series finale did the show justice. It was also nice to see some cast that had left return for the finale… Speaking of, something that bothered me, and I could have overlooked it, but I rewatched it twice to make sure… Amy Acker is in the finale, but it was literally a blink and you miss it shot.

It was also funny that I went from Scandal to HTGAWM to Suits. I wonder what law show I will watch next…
